As of 1 July 2026:

Mental Health Care Plan

If you have a Mental Health Treatment Plan (commonly referred to as a Mental Health Care Plan) and referral from your GP (or other eligible medical practitioner), you may be eligible for a Medicare rebate for up to 10 individual psychology sessions per calendar year. This usually includes an initial referral for 6 sessions, followed by a review with your GP to access a further 4 sessions if appropriate.

When you contact South Perth Psychology to book your first appointment, we ask that you email your Mental Health Treatment Plan and referral where possible. This allows us to confirm that everything is in place before your appointment.

If emailing isn't convenient, you are welcome to bring the documents with you to your first session instead.

Your Medicare rebate (currently $101.55) can be processed at the conclusion of your appointment.
